Terms
HippoCricket is an independent opinion of the public record. Not legal advice. Not an accusation of crime. Not a government site.
There are no accounts. You don’t sign up. You don’t log in. Reading a file does not create a user. If that ever changes, this page will say so first. See Privacy for what is actually stored.
The pond pictures and the bar are opinion computed from sourced votes. They are not official. Do not scrape and republish them as government data.
Nobody is buying a pond. I will not take money to change a pond. A sourced challenge can move a file. A check cannot.
A challenge is emailed to file@hippo-cricket.com and reviewed before it appears. It is not published from the form. A why does not rewrite votes, the pond, or PAC totals.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Exclusive venue for a dispute about this site is a state or federal court in Tarrant County, Texas.
Not a promise
The site is an opinion of public records. It is provided as-is. No warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness, or non-infringement. The pond pictures, the bar, and dollar totals can be wrong. A sourced challenge is how a file moves. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, or voting advice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of this site is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost votes, lost reputation, or lost money, arising out of your use of the site or your reliance on a pond picture, a number, or a PAC total. Total liability for a claim about the site is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars. Some states do not allow those limits. In those states, the limit is the smallest the law allows.
Notice and response
If a file is wrong, send the source. A challenge needs the politician, the issue, what is wrong, and a public URL. The goal is a sourced fix within 7 days. No source, no change. A challenge does not take the page down while it is checked. Votes that already happened stay on the file. An explanation can move a HippoCricket to a Hippo. It does not rewrite the roll call into a Fat Hippo.
Send notice to file@hippo-cricket.com. Include the page URL, the exact text you say is wrong, and the source that shows the correction.
DMCA
If you believe a page uses your copyrighted work without permission, send a notice that includes: your signature, the work you own, the exact URL on this site, your contact information, a statement that you believe the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or the owner’s agent. Send it to file@hippo-cricket.com. That address is the designated agent for this site. A valid notice gets a response. A counter-notice, if you send one, follows the same address and the same statutory elements. Official government portraits and public roll calls are not your copyright to pull.
