Where this runs
The site is hosted on Vercel in the United States. The database that holds filings sits in the same U.S. region. I don’t sell the site to a data broker and I don’t ship your filings overseas on purpose.
Logs
The host keeps ordinary server logs: IP address, the URL requested, the time, and the browser string. Those logs are for abuse and outages. I don’t build a profile out of them. I don’t attach them to a politician’s file. The host deletes them on its own schedule. I use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless page-count tool. It records page views and load times, not who you are. No Google Analytics, no ad pixel, no session replay.
Ballot lookup
A street, city, state, and ZIP are sent to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder so the page can name the congressional district. That request is not written into this site’s database. I don’t keep the address. I don’t make a mailing list. Address lookups are sent as a private request, not in the web address, so they don’t appear in the host’s request logs. The Census Bureau has its own rules for the query it receives.
What stays on your phone
Match answers stay in your browser. Ballot lookups are a street-plus-ZIP request, not a mailing list. I don’t sell that. I don’t run ads against you.
What I keep
If you never file a challenge or a claim, I’m not keeping a record of you.
A challenge is held for review and emailed to file@hippo-cricket.com. It is not on the page until it is checked. I keep it so the file can move. Goal is a sourced fix within 7 days. No source, no change. A challenge does not ask for your email. If you type one into the body, it stays in the review copy. Don’t do that.
A claim is different. The official .gov address is stored so the link can be sent. It is not shown on the public page. A typed address does not take the file. The file stays unclaimed until that mailbox opens the link.
Taking a name off a filing
There is no account button. Write again with the same source and I’ll take your name off the filing. A sourced correction that already landed on a politician’s file stays on the file.
